Aside from food and water, there are a few other necessities to have on hand.
When preparing for a survival situation, anyone with a smidgeon of common sense understands the importance of storing food and water.
While this is all well and good, there are a few other considerations.
We’re so used to having these things that it’s easy to overlook them, and you won’t realize how important they are until you need them and don’t have them.
This article will give you a list of items that you MUST have on hand in order to be comfortable during difficult times.
During a crisis, your mental game must be on point.
You’ll be surprised at how much the smallest details begin to matter.
One example is toilet paper.
Consider how stressful and inconvenient it would be if your toilet paper ran out.
What about dishwashing liquid? These are the things that make or break a situation…
And they’re so easy to overlook in terms of emergency preparedness.
Let’s take a look at what’s available.
While not an exhaustive list, it includes items that are nearly as important as food and water.
More items can always be purchased.
If you smoke, cigarettes may be a necessary item for you.
You don’t want to be experiencing withdrawal symptoms in the midst of a stressful situation.
Items for Personal Care
Toilet paper, deodorant and other personal hygiene products are included in the list.
It’s a good idea to keep an eye out for any toiletries you use frequently.
You’ll still require these in an emergency. Make sure you and your loved ones have enough food.
Emergency Medical Kits
If you’ve been bitten by an insect, you’ll want to keep a supply of the following items on hand: insect bite cream, tweezers, hydrogen peroxide, aspirin, and so on.
During a crisis, it is easier for infections to spread. You may also be more susceptible to digestive issues, headaches, and other issues.
Stress weakens your immune system, making you more vulnerable to infection.
As a result, always have a fully-stocked first-aid kit at the ready.
Cooking eqiupment, cleaning, gasoline and steel wool.
When it comes to serving dishes, it’s a good idea to save some reusable melamine plates and cups rather than just using paper or plastic.
Over time, disposable items will dwindle.
Because no one can predict how long a crisis will persist, it’s a good idea to have some reusable utensils on hand in addition to the disposables.
Also handy are dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent.
Some solace can be found in the knowledge that one is wearing clean clothes and eating off clean dishes when life’s challenges arise.
These modest luxuries will improve your spirits and give you the mental fortitude to keep going through the tough times.
Steel wool comes in quite handy.
A fire can be started using it, but it can also be used to clean dishes.
The electricity could go out at any time, so be sure to have enough fuel for your lamps.
Candles and batteries for your battery-operated lights and other equipment may also be useful to have on hand.
Consider Additional Items & Factors
Many other products, such as Vaseline, lip balm, bug repellent, sewing materials, cable ties, paper towels, facial wipes, writing implements and duct tape and super glue, are also useful in a crisis situation.
Storage space, value, and budget all play a role in determining how much of your personal possessions to keep and how much you can afford to give away.
It’s possible that you’ll have to accumulate all of these items over time.
The more often you use an object, the more likely it is to be replaced.
Remember that in times of need, your resources can be utilized to trade with others for necessities.
Over-preparedness rather than under-preparedness is preferred in this case.
You won’t be caught off guard if an emergency occurs if you start storing your supplies straight away.
