Use All Your Senses…: Survival Basics

If you remember, we were able to discuss the survival basics. Furthermore, that discussion took us to the acronym, SURVIVAL. Each letter representing a crucial element in survival. Today, we’re going to take a look at what the letter U of the acronym, SURVIVAL, means – Use all your senses, undue haste makes waste: Survival Basics.

Use all your senses, undue haste makes waste

When you are in a survival situation, one wrong move can mean the end for you. These usually happen because of you are going through the rounds of things without thinking it through enough – without planning it through. Not making enough use of your survival senses.

Your survival situation senses should always be fully kicking. Consider all the aspects of your survival scenario, size up on your situation before committing to a decision then move.

Acting in haste could for one, make you forget or lose some of your gear or equipment. Another thing that could happen when you are hasty is the loss of a sense of direction. You end up not knowing or remembering where you are. This is why survival planning is key, and patience is a virtue.

If you have to move quick, don’t do it reckless else you endanger yourself to either the elements or your enemy.

Use all your senses to assess the survival situation you currently are in. Breathe in those sounds and smells – they could be handy in finding food or being aware of danger. Being keen on temperature changes could also help.

In essence, always remember to be vigilant and observant. Use those survival instincts and senses.
